Define the goal and the decision it supports
Share the product link, target market, core audience and use scenario. Explain where the content will appear. Turn a broad ambition such as “build awareness” into a question the team can discuss, such as which way of presenting the product to explore first.
Then describe the decision this round should inform. Will you explore a benefit further or add a clearer product explanation? If the intended action is a click or inquiry, identify who owns the destination page and the experience that follows.
Bring materials, evidence and limits together
Collect product photographs, demonstrations, specifications, brand voice guidance and existing content. Identify the source behind each key claim. Include wording to avoid, information that remains unconfirmed and product details the creative must preserve.
For people, voices, music and other assets, explain the available permissions and usage scope. Missing material can become an explicit preparation task. A production team should not have to infer how a product works from an ambiguous description or fill gaps with unsupported details.
Connect each variation to a hypothesis
Write the hypothesis in one sentence, then list what should change and what should stay consistent. To explore opening styles, for example, retain the main explanation and call to action while opening with a problem, a use scenario or a product demonstration.
Agree on what to observe and which contextual details to record. Audience, distribution conditions and destination-page changes can also affect results. When those conditions differ substantially, avoid attributing every difference in performance to the creative alone.
Agree on delivery, review and learning
Confirm languages, aspect ratios, length ranges, captions, file formats, version names and usage scope. Identify who consolidates feedback, when scripts and visuals are approved, and the agreed revision rounds and schedule. These details make a brief easier to act on.
Include a version summary with delivery so feedback can be matched to the right asset. A review should do more than select the strongest version. Record unanswered questions, missing materials and the hypotheses worth exploring next, so the next brief begins with a clearer foundation.
